An op-ed, also called an opinion essay or guest column, is a column expressing an opinion written by a member of a newspaper's readership rather than its staff. Writing an op-ed is an effective way to influence the actions of an elected official by making a request in front of the public. Op-eds are longer than letters to the editor and receive a higher profile. Participants in this webinar will learn about the qualities of an effective op-ed and how to write one. Presented by Public Policy member Rachel Sheehan and Chair Nancy Travis.
