The LA Valley Chapter and the Santa Barbara/Ventura Counties AWHONN Chapter Invite you to a Joint Chapter Meeting

As the events of 2020 have laid bare, we can no longer ignore the serious health disparities and inequities that Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) endure in this country. AWHONN is committed to reversing the current Maternal Mortality Crisis and reducing healthcare disparities for BIPOC. California Chapter leaders, Katrina Johnson of The LA Valley AWHONN Chapter and Becca Licha of the Santa Barbara & Ventura Counties AWHONN Chapter invite you to discuss these issues. We will consider diverse lived experiences that aim to expand active listening skills and improve compassionate care. In this meeting, we will demonstrate how implicit bias manifests in healthcare systems, review current stats for Morbidity and Mortality and Covid-19 and then open it up for questions and dialogue. This meeting is a first step to being the change we want to see in healthcare. Please bring an open mind and a desire for honest, meaningful conversation.
