Dear AWHONN Members, Annual Meeting Registrants and Industry Partners,

After careful consideration, the AWHONN Utah Conference Planning Committee has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Utah AWHONN Annual Conference that was re-scheduled for September 24 and 25, 2020 in Salt Lake City. Protecting the health, safety and well-being of our members, attendees and our community is paramount, and serves as the reason for our decision. Put simply, canceling the AWHONN 2020 meeting is the right thing to do during this historic time.

The decision to officially cancel the conference stems from our commitment to promote the health and well-being of our community. As an organization of women's health, obstetric and neonatal nurses and advance practice providers, we have professional responsibility to model the behavior of social distancing and support state and local governmental guidance, especially as it pertains to public health. We must model the behavior being asked of our community to prevent further spread of the virus through large public gatherings.

Our conference planning committee, comprised purely of volunteers who are passionate about advancing the health and well-being of women and newborns, are heartbroken that this educational program that was created specifically to address the maternal-newborn needs in Utah, must be canceled due to this unprecedented situation. These volunteers have selflessly dedicated their time, their passion and their energy to be able to offer this conference, and for that I am forever grateful. We are confident that the presentations will be relevant as we begin to discuss hosting a conference in 2021. As always, the committee welcomes those members who would be willing to volunteer their time and expertise for the Utah Section of AWHONN.
